The dials’ ever-changing appearance is created using not pigments but structural colours. These models do something only Eco-Drive can do: They simultaneously absorb light to power the watch and reflect light to generate a variety of gorgeous colours.
Structural colours’ amazing iridescence
The wings of butterflies, the scales of tropical fish or the patterns of minerals—the iridescent hues we witness in the natural world are the result of structural coloration. Our structural colour dials use man-made inks to mimic nature’s method of creating wonderful iridescent colours. Just like the sea itself, they display an infinity of expressions, depending on the light and viewing angle.
